According to the study, 75,000 Realtors reported being a victim of a crime in 2023, with 7% of criminal activity occurring at an open house or showing. Thirty percent of Realtors who were victims of a crime said that the incident occurred after receiving threatening emails, text messages or phone calls. Even worse, feeling threatened at work is far from an unusual occurrence for real estate agents. According to the NAR survey, 40 percent of REALTORS® said they felt unsafe every few months or more often. Only 5 percent of them said they never felt personally unsafe while performing their job duties.
